Lal માર્ચે સાંજે ગુજરાતની મોરચા સરકારે રાજીનામું
આપ્યું. ગુજરાત શાંત રહ્યું. નફરતની લાગણી વ્યાપક હતી, પણ
ક્યાંય કોઈ હિંસક બનાવ બન્યો નહીં. જનજીવન સામાન્ય
હતું...તેમ છતાંય ગુજરાતમાં આડેધડ ધરપકડોનો દોર શરૂ થયો
હતો.
૧૩મીની મધ્યરાત્રિથી જ ગુજરાતમાં ઠેરઠેર ધરપકડો
કરવામાં આવી. દેશનાં અન્ય રાજ્યોની જેમ ગુજરાતમાં પણ
સંઘ, જનસંઘ અને Revel પરિષદના કાર્યકરોને નિશાન
બનાવવામાં આવ્યા...ઉપરાંત, થોડાક સર્વોદયી કાર્યકરો અને
સમાજવાદી પક્ષના કાર્યકરોની પણ ધરપકડ કરી લેવામાં આવી.
રાતભર ધરપકડોના સમાચારો આવતા ગયા. ભૂગર્ભમાં ચાલ્યા
ગયેલા સંઘના કાર્યકર્તાઓને પકડવા માટે સંઘના અનેક
કાર્યકર્તાઓનાં ઘર ખટખટાવવામાં આવ્યાં. અમદાવાદથી સંઘના
એક પણ કાર્યકરને પોલીસ પકડી ન શકી... બધા સહીસલામત
રહીને પરિસ્થિતિનું નિરીક્ષણ કરી રહ્યા હતા. સંઘનો એક પણ
કાર્યકર્તા ન પકડાવાને કારણે સરકાર અકળાઈ ઊઠી. હવે
આડેધડ દરોડા પાડીને પરિવારજનોને ડરાવવાનો-ધમકાવવાનો
પ્રયત્ન શરૂ થયો. જેમનાં વૉરંટ નહોતાં એવા કાર્યકરોનાં ઘરમાં
પણ અમારા જેવા કાર્યકરોને શોધવા માટે ઝડતી કરવામાં આવી.
