માટે દુઃખની લાગણી વ્યક્ત કરી. આ સામાન્ય સભાએ નેતાઓની બિનશરતી મુક્તિ
અને પ્રિ-સેન્સરશિપ વગેરે કાયદા રદ કરી લોકશાહી ઢબે કામકાજ થઇ શકે તેવું,
વાતાવરણ નિર્માણ કરવા સરકારને આગ્રહ કર્યો.
આ જ પ્રમાણે દક્ષિણ ગુજરાત યુનિવર્સિટીમાં પણ નિવૃત્ત ઉપકુલપતિ શ્રી
ચન્દ્રવદન શાહના નેતૃત્વમાં અધ્યાપકો તથા પ્રિન્સિપાલો તરફથી એક આવેદનપત્ર
તૈયાર કરીને રાષ્ટ્રપતિને મોકલવામાં આવ્યું. દક્ષિણ ગુજરાતના અધ્યાપકોએ
મોકલાવેલ Ader ભારે વ્યથાની લાગણી અનુભવતાં જણાવ્યું કે “આંતરિક
કટોકટીને નામે વિભિન્ન રાજકીય પક્ષોના આગેવાનોની ધરપકડ કરવાના કૃત્યથી
માંડીને અબખારી સ્વાતંત્ર્ય પર મનસ્વી નિયંત્રણો લાદવાનું, કેટલાક કાયદાઓને
અદાલતના અધિકારથી uA જાહેર કરવાનું, નાગરિક-નાગરિક વચ્ચે ભેદ ઊભો
કરવાનું, કાયદાના રાજ્યના આદર્શને ફગાવી દેવાનું અને આના જેવાં બીજાં કેટલાંક
બિનલોકશાહી પગલાંથી ભારતના શાસકોએ. લોકશાહીના પાયાના સિદ્ધાંતમાં
અશ્રદ્ધા વ્યક્ત કરી છે તેનું અમને ભારે દુઃખ છે. બંધારણની મૂળભૂત ભાવનાઓનો
હ્રાસ થતો જોઈ સ્વાભાવિક રીતે અમે બેચેન બન્યા MA”

આવેદન પર સહીઓ કરી લોકશાહીની પુનઃસ્થાપનાની માગણી કરતું આવેદનપત્ર
રાષ્ટ્રપતિને મોકલી આપ્યું. વિશેષ કરીને સર્વશ્રી બબાભાઈ પટેલ, વિષ્ણુભાઈ પંડ્યા,
કે. ડી. દેસાઈ, પ્રવીણ શેઠ, નારાયણભાઈ ભાંડારી વગેરે પ્રાધ્યાપકો આ કામમાં
અગ્રેસર રહ્યા.
સાતમી ઓક્ટોબરે પંકજ વિદ્યાલય, અમદાવાદમાં ગુજરાત આચાર્યમંડળે
