૧૫મી જુલાઈએ ગુજરાતના બધા જ જિલ્લાઓમાં સત્યાગ્રહ થયા.
અમદાવાદમાં શ્રી નાનશા ઠાકોર, શ્રી દેવજી ભગત અને શ્રી મહેન્દ્ર શાહના નેતૃત્વમાં,
વડોદરામાં શ્રી હીરાલાલ પંડ્યા, શ્રી જશવંતસિંહ ચૌહાણ અને શ્રી સુભાષ જગતાપના
નેતૃત્વમાં, હિંમતનગરમાં શ્રી ધીરુભાઈ દેસાઈના નેતૃત્વમાં હજારો નાગરિકોની
હાજરીમાં સત્યાગ્રહ થયા. નવસારીમાં ૧૭મી જુલાઈએ બહેનોની એક ટુકડીએ
રતનબહેન ભગતની આગેવાનીમાં સત્યાગ્રહ કર્યો. શ્રી વસંત ગજેન્દ્રગડકર અને
શ્રીમતી વિદ્યાબહેન ગજેન્દ્રગડકરે આ પ્રસંગે હાજર રહી સત્યાગ્રહીઓને વિદાય
આપી હતી.
પારડીમાં આદિવાસી કાર્યકર શ્રી મકનજીએ ધરપકડ વહોરી, તો પાલનપુરમાં
શ્રી અકબરભાઈ ચાવડા અને શ્રી ઈશ્વરભાઈ મોદીએ ધરપકડ વહોરી.
આ સત્યાગ્રહમાં ૪ દિવસથી માંડીને ૧૫ દિવસ સુધીની સજાઓ થતી હતી.
વલસાડ જિલ્લામાં તો ડિસ્ટ્રિક્ટ જેલમાં જગા પણ રહી નહોતી!
આ સત્યાગ્રહમાં સમાજના બધા જ વર્ગોનું પ્રતિનિધિત્વ હતું. તેમાં ૨૦ વર્ષનાં
કૉલેજિયનોથી માંડીને ૭૦ વર્ષની ઉમર વટાવી ગયેલા સુરતના નેમાકાકા પણ
સત્યાગ્રહ કરનાર પૈકીના હતા.
અગિયાર દિવસ ચાલેલ આ સત્યાગ્રહમાં ગુજરાતમાંથી લગભગ ૪૦૦
સત્યાગ્રહીઓએ ભાગ લીધો હતો.
સત્યાગ્રહીઓની સજાનાં ધોરણ પણ જુદાં જુદાં હતાં. કેટલાંક સ્થાનો પર તો
“અન્ડર ટ્રાયલ'માં જ પંદર દિવસ સુધી જેલમાં રહેવું પડતું હતું. કેટલાંક સ્થળોએ
સત્યાગ્રહીઓને ૧૫ દિવસથી એક માસ સુધીની સજા પણ કરવામાં આવતી.
અમદાવાદની કોર્ટોમાં સત્યાગ્રહને લોકતંત્રના પૂરક તેમ જ અનિવાર્ય બળ તરીકે
ગણીને સત્યાગ્રહીઓને છોડી દેવાના ઔતિહાસિક ચુકાદા પણ અપાયા.
સત્યાગ્રહ કરી જેલમાંથી છૂટીને આવતા સત્યાગ્રહીઓનું જનતા ભવ્ય સ્વાગત
કરતી હતી. સત્યાગ્રહીઓનાં વિદાય અને સ્વાગત એ પણ પ્રજાના નિર્ભીક વ્વવહારનો
જ પુરાવો હતો.

English translation
Satyagraha was held in all the districts of Gujarat on 15th July.
Under the leadership of Mr. Nansha Thakor, Mr. Devji Bhagat and Mr. Mahendra Shah in Ahmedabad,
Shri Hiralal Pandya, Shri Jaswant Singh Chauhan and Shri Subhash Jagtapana in Vadodara.
In leadership, thousands of citizens led by Shri Dhirubhai Desai in Himmatnagar
Satyagraha was held in attendance. A group of sisters in Navsari on 17th July
Satyagraha led by Ratan Behan Bhagat. Shri Vasant Gajendragadkar and
Mrs. Vidyabehan Gajendragadkar was present on the occasion and bid farewell to the satyagrahis
was given
Tribal activist Shri Makanji was arrested in Pardi, then in Palanpur
Shri Akbarbhai Chavda and Shri Ishwarbhai Modi were arrested.
In this satyagraha, the punishments were from 4 days to 15 days.
In Valsad district, there was no space in the district jail!
All sections of the society were represented in this satyagraha. 20 years old in it
Even Nemakaka from Surat, who has gone from being a collegian to a 70-year-old

In this satyagraha which lasted for eleven days, about 400 from Gujarat
Satyagrahis participated.
The standard of punishment for satyagrahis was also different. At some places
"Under trial" alone meant up to fifteen days in jail in some places
Satyagrahis were also punished for 15 days to one month.
Satyagraha as a complement to democracy as well as an indispensable force in the courts of Ahmedabad
Historical judgments were also given to abandon the satyagrahis.
The public gave a grand reception to the satyagrahis who were released from jail after doing satyagraha
