सरदारजी के चुटकुले सुनने का मासूम आनंद लिया करते थे। इन नए रूपों में अपने

व परिस्थितियों ने धीरे-धीरे हमें सबकुछ सिखा दिया था।

का विरोध करने के हर अवसर का उपयोग करने के प्रयत्न किए जाते थे। जेलों से
लगातार संपर्क बनाए रखते हुए, जेलों में कैद कार्यकर्ताओं का मनोबल मजबूत
बनाए रखने के लिए, नियमित रूप से उन्हें नवीनतम समाचारों, कार्यक्रमों, योजनाओं
से अवगत करवाया जाता था। ऐसा इस उद्देश्य से किया जाता था, ताकि जेलों में
कैद कार्यकर्ताओं के मन में उठनेवाले इस संशय, कि जेलों की चहारदीवारी के
बाहर भी कुछ हो रहा है या नहीं, का समाधान किया जा सके | इस संपर्क कार्य के
लिए कई बार खतरे भी मोल लेने पड़ते थे।
एक बार किसी महत्त्वपूर्ण कार्य के सिलसिले में भावनगर जेल में बंद श्री
शंकरसिंह वाघेला तथा श्री विष्णुभाई पंड्या से संपर्क करना आवश्यक हो गया था।
गुप्त पत्राचार से प्रयोजन सिद्ध नहीं हो सकता था। अत: तय किया गया कि मैं
व्यक्तिगत रूप से उनसे जेल में मिलकर आवश्यक विचार-विमर्श करूँ। एक
भूमिगत कार्यकर्ता के लिए जेल के आस-पास जाना भी मृत्यु के करीब जाने के
बराबर था। सभी तैयारियों के साथ मैं सितंबर १९७६ के दौरान भावनगर पहुँचा। मैं
तथा भावनगर में ही रहनेवाली एक बहन कैदी कार्यकर्ताओं के मुलाकाती बनकर
वहाँ की जेल में गए। 'अनुयायियों' से मिलने की 'स्वामीजी' को अनुमति मिल
गई। एक घंटा जेल में बिताकर तथा “अनुयायियों' से मुक्त सत्संग निपटाकर
*स्वामीजी ' जेल से सुरक्षित बाहर आ गए।
एक बार मैं जामनगर के दौरे पर गया हुआ था। वहाँ समाचार मिला कि
वहीं की जेल में कैद श्री पन्नालाल शाह के स्वास्थ्य की स्थिति चिंताजनक है।
मन चिंताग्रस्त हो गया।'न जाने उनके हृष्ट-पुष्ट शरीर की क्या गत बनाई होगी !'
अधूरे कार्यों को निपटाने की जिम्मेदारी तथा साथी के प्रति लगाव--इन दो भावनाओं
