करने के बावजूद बेटे को पेरोल नहीं मिल सकी । मिलती भी कैसे, पुलिस की जेबें
जो गरम नहीं हुई थीं। आखिरकार, बूढ़े बाप ने अपने बेटे का नाम रटते-रटते ही

जा सके उनका सौभाग्य था कि वे पत्नी से मिल सके थे। उन्होंने खुदा का शुक्रिया
अदा किया।
भरूच के संघ के एक बंदी कार्यकर्ता को उनकी इकलौती बहन की बीमारी
का समाचार मिला। माँ-बाप विहीन उस बहन के लिए तो जेल में बंद उसका भाई
ही सर्वस्व था। भाई के जेल जाने के कारण लगे आघात को बहन सह न पाई थी।
डॉक्टरी प्रमाण-पत्रों के साथ भाई ने पेरोल के लिए आवेदन किया। सरकार को कई
बार रिमाइंडर लिखे। घर के पड़ोसी गांधीनगर तक चक्कर लगा-लगाकर सरकार
के बहरे कानों में मानवता की दुहाई देते हुए दया की गुहार लगा आए जेल में भाई
बेचैन हुआ जा रहा था। बहन की चिंता और पेरोल के इंतजार में वह दिन-रात जला
जा रहा था, तभी एक दिन उसे तार मिला--“बहन स्वर्गवासी हो गई।' जेल का
समूचा वातावरण मानो ठहर-सा गया था। आस-पास उपस्थित लोगों की आँखों से
भी आँसू टपक पड़े | दूसरे दिन ही घाव पर नमक छिड़कनेवाला एक और पत्र प्राप्त
हुआ-पेरोल के लिए सरकार का अनुमति-पत्र। किंतु इस पत्र के मिलने से पहले
ही बहन की चिता की राख तक ठंडी पड़ चुकी थी।
