गुजरात की सभी जेलें एक साथ आपातस्थिति-विरोधी नारों से गूँज उठीं। अचानक
उठी इस सिंह गर्जना से जेल के अधिकारी थर्रा उठे। तुरंत सुरक्षा व्यवस्था और
कड़ी कर दी गई।
इन विपरीत हालातों में भी कई साथी अपने विनोदपूर्ण स्वभाव से जेल के
विषादपूर्ण माहौल को हलका-फुलका बनाए रखते थे। साबरमती जेल में कैद
तखुभा नामक एक सहयोगी के कारनामों की बातें तो बाहर जब हम लोगों तक
पहुँचतीं तब हम भी ठहाके लगाए बिना नहीं रह पाते थे। अपने आपको एक कुशल
ज्योतिषी बतानेवाले एक सहयोगी ने एक बार कुछ परचियाँ बनाईं। जेल के अन्य
सहयोगियों से उन्होंने एक-एक परची उठाने के लिए कहा। उनके अनुसार उस
परची में लिखी तारीख को ही उसे उठानेवाले की जेल से रिहाई होगी। सभी ने
एक-एक परची उठा ली। एक साथी ने अपनी परची में लिखा पाया--'जून
१९७८ ' | उनके तो होश उड़ गए। वे दिन भर मुँह लटकाए इधर-उधर बैठे W । बाद
