जेलों में दोपहर के भोजन के बाद बाहरी दुनिया से प्राप्त विभिन्न समाचारों
को आधिकारिक तौर पर बताने का कार्यक्रम हुआ करता था। इस कार्यक्रम में हर
मीसाबंदी निश्चित रूप से उपस्थित रहकर अपनी जिज्ञासा की पूर्ति करने का प्रयत्न
करता था। शुरुआती दौर में भोजन के मामले में अकसर शिकायतें और भिड़ंत हुआ
करती थी, अत: बाद में राजनीतिक कैदियों के लिए अलग भोजनशाला की
व्यवस्था की गई थी। इस भोजनशाला की व्यवस्था भी राजनीतिक कैदी स्वयं ही
सँभालते थे। साबरमती जेल की भोजनशाला के संचालक श्री जयसिंह राव अकोलकर
की प्रशंसा तो आज भी कई लोग करते हैं। भावनगर में मंगलदास माहेश्वरी,
प्रेमजीभाई चौहाण, मितभाषी युवक महेंद्र मशरू, रतिभाई मसालाबाला तथा प्रभुदास
राणिंगा ने यह व्यवस्था सँभाली थी।
जेल में रहनेवाले भिन्न-भिन्न विचारधाराओं से संबद्ध होने से उनके बीच
होनेवाली चर्चाएँ कई बार उत्तेजना की चरम सीमा तक पहुँच जाती थीं, किंतु
फिर भी उनके बीच के भाईचारे तक यह आँच नहीं पहुँच पाती थी। संघ के
कार्यकर्ताओं को मुसलमानों का दुश्मन सिद्ध करने की लगातार कोशिश करनेवाली
कांग्रेसी गतिविधियों का यहाँ भंडा फूट गया। संघ के कार्यकर्ताओं का आचरण
देख साथी मुसलिम कार्यकर्ताओं को हकीकत का एहसास हो गया। नमाज के
समय संघ के कार्यकर्ता sere उनके साथ सहयोग करते थे। रमजान के
महीने में रात को दो बजे उठकर अपने सभी मुसलिम साथियों के लिए खुद
भोजन बनाते थे। वडोदरा जेल में श्री शंकरसिंह वाघेला ने जमाअत-ए-इसलामी

जेलों के समाचार हमें नियमित मिलते रहते थे और बाहर से भी समाचार
