समर्थक जनमानस में इस दुर्घटना के प्रति धिक््कार की व्यापक प्रतिक्रिया के
बावजूद कहीं कोई हिंसक वारदात नहीं ee जनजीवन सामान्य था। फिर भी
गुजरात में गिरफ्तारियों का मनमाना दौर शुरू हो गया।
- १३ मार्च की मध्य रात्रि से ही गुजरात में जगह-जगह गिरफ्तारियाँ होने
लगौं। देश के अन्य राज्यों की तरह गुजरात में भी संघ, जनसंघ तथा विद्यार्थी
परिषद् के कार्यकर्ताओं को लक्ष्य बनाया गया। इनके अलावा कुछ सर्वोदयी
कार्यकर्ताओं को भी पकड़ा गया। रात भर गिरफ्तारियों के सामचार आते रहे | संघ
के भूमिगत कार्यकर्ताओं को पकड़ने के लिए संघ के अन्य कई कार्यकर्ताओं के
किवाड़ खटखटाए गए। अहमदाबाद की पुलिस संघ के एक भी कार्यकर्ता को नहीं
पा सकी i सभी कार्यकर्ता सुरक्षित रहते हुए परिस्थिति पर नजर रखे हुए थे। संघ का
