चार नगरपालिकाओं के चुनावों में मोरचा की प्रचंड विजय तथा आनेवाले
जिला पंचायत चुनावों के पूर्व छोटे-छोटे गाँवों तक मोरचा का फैलता जा रहा दायरा
एवं गुजरात के प्रत्येक जिले में गूँज रहा सत्याग्रह का जयघोष गुजरात के कांग्रेसी
नेताओं को बेचैन कर रहा था। नवनिर्माण आंदोलन के समय से ही गुजरात की प्रजा
को सबक सिखाने के लिए उतावले हो रहे कांग्रेसियों ने गुजरात की मोरचा सरकार
पर कीचड़ उछालने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी थी। तमिलनाडु की तरह ही गुजरात
सरकार को भी गिराने के लिए वे Sea हुए जा रहे थे। चूँकि केंद्र सरकार यह

हालातों में लोक संघर्ष समिति तथा जनता मोरचा दल ने भी जन-जागृति के
कार्यक्रमों के माध्यम से दल-बदल नीति के प्रति गुजरात कौ जनता की अरुचि
जाहिर करने के प्रयत्न किए। इस सिलसिले में ११ जनवरी को आयोजित जनसंघ
की कार्यकारिणी की बैठक में २६ जनवरी से १५ फरवरी तक “जन-जागृति
'पखवाड़ा' मनाने का निर्णय किया गया। इस कार्यक्रम के अनुसार विभिन्न जिला व
तहसील केंद्रों पर करीब दो सौ सम्मेलन आयोजित कर गाँव-गाँव में सभाओं के
आयोजन द्वारा लोक-जागृति का व्यापक अभियान चलाया गया। जनसंघ का यह
कार्यक्रम बहुत सफल हुआ।
