लेकर मैं श्री जॉर्ज के निवास-स्थान पर गया और बैठक में दिन भर हुए विचार-
विमर्श की पूरी जानकारी श्री जॉर्ज को दी।
बैठक के दौरान हिंसक व अहिंसक प्रतिकार पद्धति का मुद्दा विस्तृत रूप
से चर्चित हुआ था। इस चर्चा में गांधीवादी मूल्यों के अनुसार ही प्रतिकार करने के
संघर्ष समिति के स्पष्ट आग्रह तथा हिंसक तरीकों के प्रति संघर्ष समिति द्वारा व्यक्त
की गई असहमति के बारे में भी उन्हें जानकारी दी गई।
संघर्ष समिति की दिन भर चली इस बैठक में कई महत्त्वपूर्ण निर्णय किए
गए। देशव्यापी सत्याग्रह के समाज, सरकार व जेलों में बंद बंधुओं पर पड़नेवाले
प्रभावों के बारे में भी विचार किया गया। सत्याग्रह को शुरू हुए डेढ़ माह का समय
बीत चुका था तथा सरकार की धारणा से कई गुना अधिक संख्या में सत्याग्रही जेल
जाने के लिए तत्पर थे। सरकार को सत्याग्रह से संबद्ध इस जानकारी से पहुँचे
आश्चर्याघात के समाचारों का भी इस बैठक में उल्लेख किया गया। समिति ने
सत्याग्रह की प्रभावशीलता को लेकर संतोष व्यक्त किया।
इस बैठक में किए गए एक और महत्त्वपूर्ण निर्णय के अनुसार ५ जनवरी से
प्रारंभ हो रहे संसद् सत्र के दौरान संसद् भवन के समक्ष सत्याग्रह किया जाना था।
तय किया गया कि देश भर के सत्याग्रहियों के विभिन्न दल दिल्ली पहुँचकर
सत्याग्रह करेंगे। किंतु बाद में इस निर्णय को बदल दिया गया था। इसके अलावा
विदेशों में सरकार द्वारा चलाए जा रहे मिथ्या प्रचार का प्रत्युत्तर देने के लिए डॉ.
स्वामी को विदेश-यात्रा पर भेजने का निर्णय भी किया गया था; किंतु इस निर्णय
को बैठक में सभी पर जाहिर नहीं किया गया था। श्री स्वामी जब तक सकुशल
विदेश-यात्रा पर चले न जाएँ तब तक इस बात की किसी को कानोकान खबर न हो
पाए, इस प्रयोजन से ऐसा किया गया था।
बैठक में तीन सदस्योंवाली एक समिति बनाई गई। संघर्ष समिति की ऐसी
बैठकें बार-बार करना असंभव था, अत: इस समिति को संघर्ष समिति की ओर से
सभी निर्णय करने के अधिकार दिए गए। इस समिति के तीन सदस्य थे--सर्वश्री
रवींद्र वर्मा, दत्तोप॑तजी ठेंगड़ी तथा एस.एम. जोशी। इस प्रकार गुजरात की भूमि पर
देश-हित के लिए ऐसे कई निर्णय किए गए।
यद्यपि इन निर्णयों के किए जाने भर से हमारा कार्य पूर्ण नहीं हुआ था। इन
निर्णयों के कार्यान्वयन के संबंध में १ व २ जनवरी, १९७६ को दो दिनों के लिए
एक और महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिगत बैठक अहमदाबाद में आयोजित की गई थी। यह
बैठक जनसंघ के भूमिगत कार्यकर्ताओं की थी। इसके लिए हर प्रांत से जनसंघ के
