स्वयंसेवक संघ के कार्यकर्ता श्री नटवरभाई राजगुरु से मिलकर श्री जॉर्ज के
अहमदाबाद में रहने की व्यवस्था संघ के कार्यकर्ताओं द्वारा की जाए, ऐसी इच्छा

हमारी बातें चल ही रही थीं कि पीले रंग की एक फिएट कार दरवाजे के
पास आकर रुकी उसमें से विशाल कायावाले, बिना इस्तरी का कुरता पहने, सिर
पर हरे रंग का कपड़ा बाँधे, पट्टेदार छपाईवाली तहमत तथा कलाई पर सुनहरी
चैनवाली घड़ी पहने, चेहरे पर बढ़ी हुई दाढ़ी के साथ एक मुसलिम फकीर का वेश
धारण किए हुए 'बाबा' के नाम से बुलाए जानेवाले जॉर्ज उतरकर भीतर आए।
उन दिनों संघर्ष से जुड़े साथियों से मिलना भी एक आनंददायक अवसर
हुआ करता था। हम आपस में गले मिले तथा संघर्ष में डटकर लगे रहने के लिए
हमने एक-दूसरे को शाबाशी भी दी।
मेरे पास गुजरात तथा अन्य प्रांतों की उपलब्ध जानकारी मैंने उन्हें दी।
विशेषत: यह जानकर कि “लोक संघर्ष समिति' के मंत्री श्री नानाजी देशमुख भी
भूमिगत हैं और गिरफ्तार नहीं हुए हैं, वे बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। हमारी बातचीत के दौरान
संघ के स्वयंसेवकों पर सरकार की धौंस अधिक होने के बारे में उन्होंने चिंता तथा
खेद व्यक्त किया। उन्होंने बदली हुई परिस्थितियों में संघ की शक्तियों से रखी
जानेवाली अपेक्षाओं के बारे में भी चर्चा की।
श्री जॉर्ज इस बारे में सहमत थे कि इंदिराजी कदापि अपनी जिद नहीं
छोड़ेंगी। वे मानते थे कि सशस्त्र प्रतिकार ही आपातस्थिति का एकमात्र उपाय है।
उनका कहना था कि संघ को भी राष्ट्र-हित के लिए अविलंब इस प्रकार की प्रवृत्ति
आरंभ कर देनी चाहिए। किंतु भीषणतम स्थितियों में भी अपनी भूमिका के बारे में
संघ निश्चिंत था। संघ किसी भी हिंसक आचरण के द्वारा परिवर्तन लाने के पक्ष में
नहीं था। संघ को प्रजातांत्रिक तरीकों में पूरा विश्वास है, यह भी मैंने उन्हें बताया।
इस प्रसंग के बाद, मोरचा सरकार के रहने तक जॉर्ज अधिकतर गुजरात में
