जगताप के नेतृत्व में हिम्मत नगर में श्री धीरूभाई देसाई के नेतृत्व में हजारों
नागरिकों की उपस्थिति में सत्याग्रह किए गए। नवसारी में १७ जुलाई के दिन बहनों
के एक दल ने सुश्री रतन बहन भगत के नेतृत्व में सत्याग्रह किया। श्री वसंत गजेंद्र
गडकर एवं श्रीमती विद्या बहन गजेंद्र गडकर ने इस अवसर पर उपस्थित रहकर
सत्याग्रहियों को जेल के लिए विदा किया।
पारडी में आदिवासी कार्यकर्ता श्री मकनजी ने, पालनपुर में श्री अकबरभाई
चाबड़ा व श्री ईश्वरभाई मोदी ने गिरफ्तारियों को गले लगाया।
इस सत्याग्रह के लिए चार दिन से पंद्रह दिन तक की सजा सत्याग्रहियों
को दी गई। वलसाड जिले का जिला कारागार तो सत्याग्रहियों से खचाखच भर
गया था।
इस सत्याग्रह में समाज के सभी वर्गों का प्रतिनिधित्व था। बीस साल के
विद्यार्थियों से लगाकर सूरत के सत्तर वर्षीय नेमा काका भी सत्याग्रह करनेवालों में
शामिल थे। ग्यारह दिन चले इस सत्याग्रह में गुजरात भर के करीब चार सौ
सत्याग्रहियों ने हिस्सा लिया।
सत्याग्रहियों को दंडित करने की प्रक्रिया में भी कई विषमताएँ थीं। कई
स्थानों पर तो सत्यांग्रहियों को ' अंडर ट्रायल' स्थिति में ही पंद्रह-पंद्रह दिनों तक
जेल में रखा जाता था; कई जगहों पर उन्हें पंद्रह दिन से एक माह तक के कारावास
की सजा दी गई थी। अहमदाबाद की अदालतों ने सत्याग्रह को लोकतंत्र का पूरक
एवं अनिवार्य तत्त्व मानकर सत्याग्रहियों को मुक्त कर देने जैसे ऐतिहासिक फैसले
भी दिए।
जेल से रिहा होकर आनेवाले सत्याग्रहियों का जनता द्वारा भव्य स्वागत
किया जाता। सत्याग्रहियों को जेल के लिए विदा करना एवं उनके रिहा होकर
लौटने पर उनका स्वागत करना--ये दोनों बातें प्रजा की निडरता का प्रमाण थीं।
