कार्यालयों पर पुलिस ने छापे मारकर उन पर कब्जा कर लिया था। aT प्रांत से
प्रतिबंधित संस्थाओं के कुल एक सौ सड़सठ कार्यकर्ताओं को डी.आई.आर. के तहत
गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया था, जिनमें से एक सौ इकतालीस संघ के कार्यकर्ता थे।
अन्य प्रतिबंधित संस्थाओं में प्रमुख संस्थाएँ आनंद मार्ग, प्राडटिस्ट ब्लॉक
और जमाअत-ए-इसलामी थीं | आनंद मार्ग के कार्यकर्ता अधिकांशत: हिम्मतनगर,
सूरत, भुज और अहमदाबाद से; जबकि जमाअत-ए-इसलामी के कार्यकर्ता
अहमदाबाद, वडोदरा एवं धोलका से पकड़े गए थे।
संघ के गिरफ्तार कार्यकर्ताओं में अहमदाबाद से प्रांत प्रचारक श्री केशवराव
देशमुख, प्रांत कार्यवाह श्री रतिभाई शाह, नगर संघचालक डॉ. आर.के. शाह, प्रांत
व्यवस्था प्रमुख श्री बचुभाई भगत; राजकोट से प्रांत संघचालक डॉ. पी.वी. दोशी,
प्रांत शारीरिक प्रमुख श्री प्रवीणभाई मणियार, विभाग कार्यवाह श्री यशवंतभाई
भट्ट; सूरत से विभाग कार्यवाह श्री चंपकभाई सुखडिया, वडोदरा से विभाग
संघचालक श्री बाबुभाई ओझा, जिला कार्यवाह श्री शरदभाई भोसेकर के अलावा
गुजरात भर से अन्य अनेक स्वयंसेवकों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया था।
कई स्थानों पर गिरफ्तार कार्यकर्ताओं की उपस्थिति में ही कार्यालयों की
तलाशी ली गई। महत्त्वपूर्ण फाइल इत्यादि दस्तावेजों को सरकार ने जाँच हेतु
अदालत के सुपुर्द भी किया। ४ जुलाई को गिरफ्तार किए गए कई कार्यकर्ताओं को
७ जुलाई तक जमानत पर भी नहीं छोड़ा गया था। बाद में मिली जानकारी के
अनुसार कई मामलों में तो पंद्रह दिनों तक जमानत की दरख्वास्त तक मंजूर नहीं की

तक लंबित रखी गई थी। तब तक उन्हें जेल में ही रहना पड़ा था। इस प्रकार इस
