जनता इस अधोगति से बेचैन होने लगी। उसके आस-पास का वातावरण--चाहे
वह राजनीतिक हो या सामाजिक--सत्ताधीशों द्वारा इतना कलुषित कर दिया गया
था कि अब इन सत्ताधीशों के खिलाफ जनता खुलेआम अपना विरोध प्रदर्शित करने
लगी और सन् १९७३ के अंत तक तो जनता की यह पीड़ा रोषाग्नि का रूप धारण
करने लगी।
जन-चेतना के दर्शन
अपनी शांत प्रकृति के लिए प्रसिद्ध गुजरात इन सारी वतनफरोश घटनाओं
का मूकदर्शक बना रहे, यह असंभव था। इसके अलावा गुजरात की इस जागृति
की पृष्ठभूमि में ऐतिहासिक कारण भी थे। गुजरात लोकतंत्रात्मक जागरूकता के
