इस पत्र का सरकार की ओर से कोई प्रत्युत्तर नहीं दिया गया। अंततः इस
पत्र के लिखे जाने के दस दिन बाद १४ नवंबर के उस ऐतिहासिक दिवस से
सत्याग्रह प्रारंभ हुआ।
ग्रुजरात में सत्याग्रह
सत्याग्रह से पहले ही गुजरात में सत्याग्रह का माहौल बनने लगा था।
जगह-जगह पर होनेवाली सभाओं में सत्याग्रह हेतु लोगों का आह्वान किया गया।
पत्रिकाओं, पोस्टर्स और भित्तिपत्रकों ने भी एक नई चेतना की लहर दौड़ाने में
काफी मदद की थी। देश भर में भी इसी प्रकार का निर्भीक मानस बनेगा, ऐसी
आशा बँधी। १४ नवंबर को पहले ही दल में सत्याग्रह करने के लिए युवाओं में
होड़ लगने लगी।
१४ तारीख को गुजरात के सभी जिलों के जिला मुख्यालय गूँज उठे।
जगह-जगह पर सत्याग्रहियों को विदा करने के लिए सभाएँ आयोजित हुईं और
उनका सम्मान किया गया। अहमदाबाद में संघर्ष समिति के संयोजक श्री भोगीभाई
के नेतृत्व में सत्याग्रह का प्रारंभ हुआ। सत्याग्रहियों को विदा करने हेतु अहमदाबाद
में आयोजित एक सार्वजनिक समारोह में संघ के गुजरात प्रांत बौद्धिक प्रमुख श्री
विनायकराव वणीकर भी उपस्थित रहे थे।
अहमदाबाद के सुप्रसिद्ध माणेक चौक इलाके में सत्याग्रहियों के लिए
आयोजित एक विदाई समारोह में हजारों की संख्या में नागरिक शामिल हुए थे।
सत्याग्रहियों को फूलमालाएँ पहनाकर उन्होंने लोकतंत्र के प्रति अपनी चाहना प्रकट

“जनता बुलेटिन' का वाचन किया गया। इस प्रकार सरकारी कानून का सविनय
भंग करने के बाद सत्याग्रहियों ने स्वेच्छापूर्वक गिरफ्तार होते हुए ' भारत माता की
wa’, 'तानाशाही मुर्दाबाद', 'लोकशाही जिंदाबाद' के नारों से सारा माहौल हिलाकर
रख दिया।
अहमदाबाद जिले का सत्याग्रह धोलका में हुआ | वहाँ श्री कांतिभाई कापड़िया
