जन-जाजृति के बढ़ते कदम
गुजरात में आपातस्थिति के विरोध में कई कार्यक्रम हुए। प्रजा की ओर से
भी पूरा सहयोग मिला। इनमें से करीब सभी कार्यक्रम 'लोक संघर्ष समिति' द्वारा
किए गए। 'लोक संघर्ष समिति' के छत्र तले जनता मोरचा के सहयोगी दलों के
अलावा राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ, जे.पी. के समर्थक, निर्दलीय व्यक्तियों इत्यादि ने
इन कार्यक्रमों को सफल बनाने में पूरा योगदान दिया। इसके अलावा और भी
अनेक लोकतंत्र समर्थक संस्थाएँ सामने आईं। कि.म.लो.द. के समर्थन से टिकी हुई
जनता सरकार के अनिश्चित भविष्य के बावजूद सभी ने बेझिझक होकर अपने-
अपने तरीके से आपातस्थिति का विरोध किया।
उस समय गुजरात तो लोकतंत्र के द्वीप के समान था। पूरे राष्ट्र की निगाह
गुजरात पर ही टिकी हुई थी; क्योंकि देश भर में जहाँ लोकतंत्र का गला घोंट दिया
गया था, वहीं गुजरात में मोरचा सरकार ने लोकतंत्र के दीपक की लौ को बुझने से
अब तक बचाए रखा था। इन्हीं कारणों से गुजरात अन्य प्रांतों के लोकतंत्र-प्रेमियों
के मेल-मिलाप का, अपनी बात बे-खौफ प्रस्तुत करने का मंच बना हुआ था।
अहमदाबाद ने निडर होकर इन लोकतंत्र-चहेतों का आतिथ्य किया। अहमदाबाद
में आपातस्थिति को चुनौती देनेवाले कई सम्मेलन आयोजित हुए। देश के रणबाँकुरों
को संगठित करने में गुजरात की भूमि ने विशेष योगदान दिया।
२९ जून को अहमदाबाद में हुई ' सर्वोदय मंडल ' की बैठक के बाद ३० जून
को “गुजरात विधानसभा जनता vat’ तथा अन्य कई छोटी-बड़ी संस्थाओं ने
आपातकाल-विरोधी प्रस्ताव पारित किए। विद्या नगर की ' सरदार पटेल यूनिवर्सिटी
क्षेत्र अध्यापक मंडल' की १९ जुलाई, १९७५ की सामान्य सभा ने एक प्रस्ताव
