जनता अखबार
देश भर में अनेकानेक गतिविधियाँ चल रही थीं, परंतु सख्त सेंसरशिप के
कारण इनकी जानकारी लोगों तक नहीं पहुँच पा रही थी। अखबारों में सरकारी
समाचारों के अलावा और कुछ भी नहीं छप रहा था। आकाशवाणी से लगातार
सरकारी समाचार तथा विपक्षी नेताओं के बारे में भ्रामक प्रचार प्रसारित किया जा
रहा था।
सही समाचार न मिल पाने के कारण हर व्यक्ति अपने आपको देश से
अलग-थलग महसूस कर रहा था। इन हालातों में जनता की हिम्मत बनाए रखने
के लिए उस तक सही समाचारों का पहुँचना अति आवश्यक था। अत: इस
आवश्यकता की पूर्ति के लिए 'गुजरात लोक संघर्ष समिति' ने तय किया कि वह
एक भूमिगत पत्रिका का प्रकाशन शुरू BL ३ जुलाई, १९७५ से “जनता छापुं'
(जनता अखबार) नामक इस भूमिगत पत्रिका का प्रकाशन शुरू हुआ। इसके
संपादक लोक संघर्ष समिति, गुजरात के संयोजक श्री भोगीलाल गांधी थे। इस
“जनता अखबार ' के प्रचार-प्रसार में श्री हसमुख पटेल व श्रीमती मंदाकिनी पटेल
ने विशेष योगदान दिया।
आरंभ में “जनता अखबार' में केवल सुनी-सुनाई खबरें ही छपती थीं।
समाचार नियमित रूप से प्राप्त हो सकें, ऐसी कोई सुगठित व्यवस्था संघर्ष समिति
के पास नहीं थी। गुजरात में मुक्त माहौल होने के बावजूद अपेक्षित मात्रा में
समाचारों का संकलन नहीं हो पाता था। इन परिस्थितियों में 'जनता अखबार' को
और अधिक समृद्ध करने के लिए समाचार-संकलन का काम संघ के कार्यकर्ताओं
ने अपने जिम्मे ले लिया।
