प्रतिकार का प्रथम घोष
आरंभिक उत्तेजना की अभिव्यक्ति हो चुकी थी और अब फूँक-फूँककर
आगे बढ़ने का समय आ चुका था। “केंद्रीय लोक संघर्ष समिति' द्वारा व्यक्तिगत
सत्याग्रह के कार्यक्रम घोषित किए गए।
“गुजरात सर्वोदय मंडल' की एक बैठक अहमदाबाद में आयोजित हुई।
इसमें श्रीमती गांधी के अलोकतांत्रिक तरीकों का विरोध किया गया तथा महात्मा
गांधी द्वारा दिखाए गए अहिंसक तरीकों से गुजरात भर में व्यापक प्रतिकार एवं प्रजा
को जाग्रत् करने का निर्णय लिया गया।
चूँकि गुजरात में मोरचा सरकार होने के कारण सभाओं-रैलियों पर प्रतिबंध
नहीं था। २९ जून की शाम को अहमदाबाद के राजभवन की ओर कूच का
आयोजन किया गया। कु. मणी बहन पटेल Ue श्री भोगीभाई गांधी के नेतृत्व में
आयोजित इस कूच में पाँच हजार नागरिकों ने हिस्सा लिया। केंद्र सरकार के
प्रतिनिधि गुजरात के राज्यपाल श्री के.के. विश्वनाथन को एक आवेदन-पत्र दिया
गया, जिसमें आपातकाल को शीघ्र निरस्त कर लोकतंत्र के पुनःस्थापन की माँग की
गई थी। गुजरात की जनता की इस भावना को केंद्र सरकार तक पहुँचाने के लिए
राज्यपाल महोदय से प्रार्थना भी की गई।
गुजरात के बुजुर्ग जनसेवक पूज्य रविशंकर महाराज ने श्रीमती गांधी को
एक तार द्वारा अपनी मनोव्यथा से अवगत कराया। राष्ट्र एवं श्रीमती गांधी दोनों ही
के हित के लिए लोकतंत्र की पुन: प्रतिष्ठा की उन्होंने माँग की । उनके अलावा भी
गुजरात के कई जाने-माने व्यक्तियों ने अपना विरोध व्यक्त किया।
