प्रभावों से परिचित हुए। अन्य राज्यों में चल रहे ऐसे देश-हित के आंदोलनों को
नेतृत्व प्रदान करने के लिए जे.पी. पूर्णतः योग्य व्यक्ति थे और देश के सद्भाग्य ही
थे कि उन्होंने आंदोलन का नेतृत्व स्वीकार कर लिया।
“गुजरात का अनुकरण '--ये शब्द उन दिनों देश की प्रजा के लिए प्रेरणा-
स्रोत बन चुके थे; जबकि शासकों के लिए यही शब्द किसी दुःस्वप्न के समान
थे--और इसीलिए वे बार-बार दोहराते रहते थे कि “गुजरात (की घटनाओं) का
पुनरावर्तन नहीं होने दिया जाएगा।' किंतु जे.पी. के नेतृत्व में हो रहा आंदोलन
गुजरात की अपेक्षा कहीं अधिक सुव्यवस्थित ढंग से एवं मूल्यों को बनाए रखते हुए
लक्ष्य-प्राप्ति हेतु प्रगति करने लगा। यह आंदोलन स्पष्ट रूप से गुजरात से मिली
प्रेरणा का ही परिणाम था। बिहार में भी विधानसभा विसर्जन की माँग जोर पकड़ती
जा रही थी और इसीलिए तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री श्रीमती इंदिरा गांधी ने अपने एक
निवेदन में कहा था, ' गुजरात विधानसभा के विसर्जन की माँग को स्वीकार कर मैंने
एक गंभीर गलती की है।'

एकता स्थापित करने की भावना से किए गए श्री के.डी. देसाई एवं कुछ अन्य
महानुभावों के प्रयत्न महत्त्वपूर्ण थे। गुजरात में सभी दलों ने एकजुट होकर चुनाव
की माँग को प्रबल बनाते हुए केंद्र सरकार को संघर्ष के लिए ललकारा।
इन्हीं दिनों श्री मोरारजीभाई ने पुनः एक बार गुजरात के आंदोलन की
