Terror attacks in India: reconstructed trend and ideology share

I rebuilt this page again so the SATP portion really follows the SATP incidents series. The main count graph now uses Wikipedia's annual incidents table for 1970–1999 and SATP's incidents series for 2000–2026. I still did not find a dependable annual nationwide series for 1947–1969 that I trust enough to hard-code as official-looking numbers, so that earliest span remains explicitly marked as unavailable rather than guessed.

How the main count graph is stitched now

You pointed out that the earlier plotted values did not visibly follow the SATP incidents page. That was fair. I therefore rebuilt the first graph so SATP is used directly for the full 2000–2026 range, while Wikipedia is only used for 1970–1999. The GTD-derived mirror is now used only for the separate share graph below.

Main count graph

1970–1999 comes from Wikipedia's annual incidents table. 2000–2026 comes directly from SATP's incidents series. 1947–1969 remains a clearly marked no-data zone because I have not found a nationwide annual series for those years that is comparable enough to the later sources.[1][2]

Share graph

The religion / ideology share graph is a different thing. It remains based on the stricter GTD-derived 1+ death subset, so it still covers only the years supported by that source. I keep it separate so I do not pretend the stitched count graph and the share graph come from the same dataset.[3][4]

Graph 1

Historical attack / incident frequency on a 1947–2026 axis

Grey band = no dependable annual nationwide series located. Red line = Wikipedia annual incidents table (1970–1999). Blue line = SATP incidents series (2000–2026).

This first graph now follows SATP directly from 2000 onward. The earlier red segment is only the 1970–1999 Wikipedia annual incidents table. I still do not have a defendable annual nationwide count series for 1947–1969.[1][2]
Graph 2

Religion / ideology share for the attributed 1+ death subset

This stacked 100% area chart remains tied to the stricter GTD-derived 1+ death subset. It is kept separate from the stitched incidents graph above because the count source and the share source are not the same dataset.

This is the stacked-percentage form of graph that lets the page show both overall frequency (above) and changing composition share (here) at the same time. But note carefully that the share graph is stricter and narrower in source coverage than the stitched count graph above.[3][4]
